Martin Odegaard has revealed the Premier League stars that he sought advice from ahead of his Arsenal loan move.

The playmaker joined the Gunners on loan from Real Madrid during the January transfer window.

He’s proving to be an important player under Mikel Arteta, having scored in recent wins over Tottenham and Olympiacos.

Odegaard’s form will be integral if Arsenal are to finish in a European spot and compete for trophies this campaign.

The 22-year-old has now revealed that he received advice from Everton’s Josh King and Sheffield United’s Sander Berge about the Premier League.

He told the PL’s official YouTube channel: “Yeah, I spoke to both of them! I also spoke to another guy who used to play at Fulham, Stefan Johansen.

“He was the former captain of the national team so I spoke to him to know a little bit about the league and how they saw the league.

“They had only good things to say about the league and everything here – they told me a lot of good things.

“The Premier League is really big in Norway so I grew up watching it every week and everyone in Norway follows the league so closely. It’s a dream to be able to play here.”

King also opened up about the conversation recently, telling Norwegian outlet NKR: “When I saw the rumour about Arsenal, I sent him a message and said: ‘You have to go to Arsenal’.

“He replied, ‘are you sure? Are you sure?’ – I was so sure [as I know] Arsenal’s style of play and Martin’s.

“I have friends who have played for Arsenal, and I know a little about how the club is. In my head, I think it suited him well.”

Odegaard’s impressive performances could see him extend his spell at the Emirates.

Arsenal are interested in signing him permanently once his loan ends this summer.

The North London side are also exploring the possibility of another loan for next season.

Odegaard is close to both King and Berge as they all play for the Norwegian national team.

They’re currently on international duty, although Berge is just travelling with the squad as he continues to recover from hamstring surgery.

Norway’s next game is against Turkey on Saturday at 17:00.
