Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi ‘tastelessly taunted’ Neal Maupay and the Brighton players during the Gunners’ 2-1 loss at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.

The Gunners slipped to defeat as Maupay struck in injury time after Brighton captain Lewis Dunk had cancelled out Nicolas Pepe’s opener.

Earlier in the game, Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno appeared to suffer a serious knee injury as he fell awkwardly with Maupay in close proximity, with the Germany international gesturing his displeasure to the forward as he was taken off on a stretcher.

After hitting the last-gasp winner, Maupay was confronted at the full-time whistle with Guendouzi placing his hands on his fellow Frenchman.

The Daily Mail claims it has since ’emerged that the Arsenal midfielder made tasteless insults to Brighton players on Saturday’.

Guendouzi ‘spent the game taunting Brighton players about the financial disparity between the squads’ with Maupay coming out after the match accusing the Arsenal players of lacking humility.

Maupay’s comments ‘were primarily aimed at Guendouzi’ with a source telling the Daily Mail: ‘He was saying the Brighton players were s*** and that he and his team-mates earn so much more than they ever will. He’s done it in other games as well. Arsenal are a decent club and hate that sort of behaviour.’
