Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has responded to speculation that he could lose his job as head coach if results don’t improve.

A report on Tuesday claimed Sarri is set to continue as the Blues’ head coach, for now, but forthcoming fixtures could determine his fate.

That comes after humiliating losses to Bournemouth and Manchester City, followed by the reaction of the fans during Monday’s FA Cup exit to Manchester United.

Chelsea are preparing with Sarri for Thursday’s Europa League last-32 second leg against Malmo – they hold a 2-1 first-leg advantage – with Sunday’s Carabao Cup final clash versus City following.

And Sarri thinks with a couple of wins the whole outlook on his and Chelsea’s situation could be very different.

“It is very difficult to think we are able to win three or four in a row, but in football everything can change in one day,” Sarri told reporters.

“I think we need a good performance and result and then with more confidence we can.

“I have to think I will be Chelsea manager for a long time or I cannot work.

“I am not sure but I must think this and want to work with a long term target.”
