Reported Liverpool target Kylian Mbappe during a match

Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe has reportedly been advised to join Liverpool over Real Madrid.

The France international was said to be close to leaving PSG for Madrid in the summer before signing a new mammoth contract at the Parc des Princes.

But according to El Pais (via Sport Witness), uncle Pierre Mbappe, his ‘most respected football advisor’, saw Liverpool as the ‘most appropriate destination’ for him.

The report claims Liverpool have been in contact with the Mbappe family for years and the club’s American owners are still keen on luring the forward to Anfield.

They are said to be concerned by the club’s slow start to the season and fear manager Jurgen Klopp will resign over the lack of a squad revamp.

A swap deal involving Mohamed Salah has been mooted and ‘reciprocated’ in France.

Pierre Mbappe is a highly resepcted analyst and coach both in France and the Premier League and it’s thought Kylian values his advice above all others.

And so should Liverpool maintain their interest they will likely have at least one member in the Mbappe camp (and a highly thought of one at that) in their corner.

The Reds could look to steal Mbappe away from PSG in January after reports emerged that he wanted out of the Ligue 1 club.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano tweeted: ‘Kylian Mbappe, not happy with Paris Saint-Germain as current situation is really tense. He wants to leave the club, as soon as possible.’

He has since dismissed those reports, but when it comes to Mbappe there’s no smoke without fire and there’s almost always smoke.

Gary Neville believes that Liverpool are in need of reinforcements to rebuild what suddenly looks an ageing squad.

He expects Klopp to urge the board to complete the “statement” signing of Mbappe or Borussia Dortmund and England sensation Jude Bellingham.

Neville said: “If you’re Liverpool’s owners and this season continues in the manner that it has done so far, and they finish outside the Champions League, Jurgen Klopp is going to want that type of statement from the owners, such as Bellingham and Mbappe.”
