Mbappe drama: Romano claims ‘unhappy’ forward ‘wants to leave’ PSG – ‘situation is really tense’

Kylian Mbappe is putting pressure on Paris Saint-Germain to let him leave the club in January, according to multiple reports.

The 23-year-old penned a new PSG contract in May after months of stories surrounding his future.

He has often hinted that he would love to play for Real Madrid in the future and the La Liga club were battling the French club for his signature with his contract set to expire in the summer.

Real Madrid had also lodged a huge bid to sign the player in 2021, but the Ligue 1 champions decided to reject the offer despite his contract situation.

The France forward ended up signing a three-year deal in Paris after being offered a gargantuan amount of money on top of some power behind the scenes at the Parc des Princes.

After a difficult campaign for PSG following Lionel Messi’s arrival, it had looked like Christophe Galtier had steadied the ship and was getting the best out of the Argentine, Mbappe and Neymar.

The French giants started the season very well with Messi and Neymar looking back to their best.

The Parisiens scored 17 goals in their opening three Ligue 1 fixtures and are still unbeaten in the competition, as well as in the Champions League, with two wins and one draw from their opening three matches in Europe.

However, they have failed to win by more than one goal in the league in their last four fixtures and were held to a 0-0 draw by Reims on Sunday.

Sergio Ramos was sent off for PSG in the first half as Mbappe led the line without Messi and Neymar by his side.

Following the match, Mbappe took to Instagram to vent his frustrations, sharing on his story: “Draw, meeting on Tuesday,” followed by “#icicestparis” and “#pivotgang”.

The term ‘pivot gang’ was used by the French superstar as a way to show that he does not enjoy playing through the middle by himself.

He instead prefers to play alongside a target man such as Olivier Giroud, as he has done for France plenty of times.

Just when things looked like they were calming down in Paris, the circus is back in town.

Multiple reports have claimed on Tuesday that Mbappe has told the club he is fed up and wants to leave.

Initially reported by Marca correspondent Mario Cortegana, a lot of reliable journalists have had their say on the developing saga.

The initial report from the Spanish newspaper claimed that Mbappe’s relationship with PSG is ‘completely broken’.

Apparently, there is ‘no turning back’ and Liverpool could be ‘his only feasible option’ with the Parisiens unwilling to let him join Real Madrid. Probably out of spite, if anything.

Mbappe feels ‘betrayed’ by the French outfit after they made a lot of false promises in order to convince the young striker to pen a contract extension.

He ‘still wants’ to join Real Madrid one day, although a move to Anfield could materialise if the Premier League club lodge a reasonable offer.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has had his say on the situation, confirming that Mbappe is ‘not happy’ at PSG.

He wrote on Twitter: “Kylian Mbappe, not happy with Paris Saint-Germain as current situation is really tense. He wants to leave the club, as soon as possible.

“Paris Saint-Germain feel he’s really putting pressure on the club — they have no intention to sell Mbappe in January.”

The news was also confirmed by CBS Sports‘ Ben Jacobs and ESPN‘s Julien Laurens.

Laurens’ story stated that Mbappe feels betrayed by sporting director Luis Campos, president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and manager Christophe Galtier.

Mbappe’s relationship with Neymar has apparently ‘deteriorated’ and he was promised the signing of another centre-half as well as a new No. 9 who could play alongside him up top, none of which materialised in the summer transfer window.

ESPN adds that PSG were willing to listen to offers for Neymar in the summer.

Jacobs, however, says the club are “unconcerned” over reports about a “broken relationship” and do not see him departing in January.

An exit in the winter is being “played down”, though PSG will listen to an offer if it is considered “right for the club”.

Mbappe to Liverpool, anyone?
