Mbappe to join PSG after relegation clause triggered

Kylian Mbappe will officially join Paris Saint-Germain on a permanent deal after a clause in his loan deal was activated.

Mbappe joined PSG from Monaco on a season-long loan in the summer, scoring 15 goals and assisting 14 in 32 appearances.

The striker missed the club’s 5-2 Ligue Un victory over Strasbourg on Saturday, but the result means his deal will become permanent in the summer.

The victory ensured that PSG have finally secured safety after a hard-fought battle against relegation this season, thereby triggering a clause in Mbappe’s loan.

PSG are now obliged to hand over £166million to Monaco, making Mbappe the second-most expensive player of all-time behind teammate Neymar.

Mbappe will sign a four-year contract with the Ligue Un leaders in the summer, and become comfortably the most expensive 19-year-old ever. Poor Anthony Martial.
