The Premier League leaders are assessing long-term potential transfer options and Martinelli is one of the names on that list, a Liverpool source told Football Insider.
The 18-year-old has been the standout performer for Arsenal this season having signed from Brazilian club Utuano for £6million in the summer.
The versatile forward was phased into the first team in the Europa League and the EFL Cup, scoring seven goals in seven games in those competitions.
He made his first Premier League start in December – scoring against West Ham – and has netted in each of Arsenal’s last two games, including the breakaway goal in the 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool are unlikely to be the only leading European club targeting Martinelli and Arsenal may need to offer the youngster an improved contract to ward off his suitors in the summer.
