Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is ‘pleased’ with his team’s victory over Sheff Utd at the Emirates earlier today.

After a goalless first half, the Gunners finally broke the deadlock in the 61st-minute thanks to a goal from youngster Bukayo Saka.

Right back Hector Bellerin managed to get in behind the Sheff Utd defence and to the byline before putting the ball across the goal.

His cross found Saka at the back post who smoothly dispatched of the chance.

Arsenal started to find their rhythm and were soon 2-0 up thanks to a brilliant goal from Nicolas Pepe.

The Ivory Coast international breezed past Enda Stevens with a sudden burst of pace and quickly fired the ball into the bottom corner, past Aaron Ramsdale.

Despite a late goal from David McGoldrick, Arsenal managed to hold on and collect all three points.

Speaking after the match, Arteta told Sky Sports (via BBC Sport): “I am really pleased against a difficult opponent. We had total control in the first half. We attacked with purpose and created issues for them. But it is the Premier League and you need to score the third. We needed to hang in there.”

“We have good options up front. The way the game was developing I knew Auba would be a threat. I demand that everyone in the squad makes an impact.”

When asked about Saka scoring his first goal for Arsenal at the Emirates, the manager said: “”I am very impressed. I did not expect a header from him. It is a new thing for him.”

Arsenal will go into their next match high in confidence. After the international break they play Man City away on Saturday 17th October.
