Mkhitaryan: Zlatan understands I am also a god

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has joked that there is more than one god at Manchester United these days.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic introduced himself as such to Man Utd staff when he arrived but team-mate Mkhitaryan says the Europa League trip to Rostov last season showed the Swede is not the only one to be worshipped.

Mkhitaryan spoke to Armenian State Radio about his relationship with Ibrahimovic.

“Zlatan has a strong temper,” he said. Many people don’t agree with him. People do not understand or do not want to understand his jokes or what he’s talking about.

“But I have had good relations with him from the first moment. We kept in touch even when he was recovering out of Manchester.

“Everyone knows Ibrahimovic calls himself the God. But when we landed in Rostov I told him: “You see who the real God is.”

“I’m joking. There were many Armenians chanting my name. After that he understood there is another God – me!”
