Bayern Munich are set to rival Manchester United for two of their key transfer targets this summer, which will come as a blow to Erik ten Hag.

Indeed, Thomas Tuchel has reportedly put Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae and Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani at the top of his transfer shortlist.

Both players have been heavily linked to Man Utd in recent weeks. But, Bayern could now scupper their transfer plans in a major twist.

As reported by Football365, The Red Devils have already reached an agreement on personal terms with Min-jae.

The 26-year-old made 35 appearances in the Serie A in 2022/23. In the process, he helped his team to 16 clean sheets, as well as scoring two goals.

Min-jae’s performances have gained him a reputation as one of the best defenders in Europe. So, it’s no surprise to see top European clubs vying for this signature.

Also, the South Korea international has a €60m (£51m) release clause in his Napoli contract. So, he is available for a relatively cheap price this summer.

However, according to German outlet BILD, Bayern Munich are now ready to rival Man Utd for Min-jae. Tuchel is thought to be a huge fan of the defender and wants to bring him to the Allianz Stadium.

Both clubs are willing to pay his £51m clause, so, ultimately, Min-jae will have the final say on his next destination.

But, as mentioned, Min-jae isn’t the only Man Utd target on Bayern’s radar.

It’s no secret that Ten Hag has made a new striker one of his transfer priorities. Man Utd were heavily reliant on the goals of Marcus Rashford in 2022/23, so, the manager is on the hunt for another quality forward.

Now, Muani has emerged as one of Ten Hag’s primary targets.

In 2022/23, the 24-year-old made 32 Bundesliga appearances for Frankfurt. In the process, he scored 15 goals and made 14 assists. This gives him an outstanding average of 0.9 goal contributions per match.

If he could have a similar impact at Man Utd, he could be the difference between winning trophies, and not.

However, according to reputed transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg, Muani is now a key target for Bayern.

On Twitter, he wrote: “The main priority for the Bayern bosses is to find a striker now! Declan Rice was the hottest target for central midfield.

“But Bayern is out of the race for now as reported. Kolo Muani, one of the names that remains on Bayern‘s list.”

So, Bayern are seemingly poised to rival Man Utd for Muani. But, he won’t come cheap, with Frankfurt reportedly demanding a fee of €100m (£85.5m) for his services.

With that in mind, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top for both Min-jae and Muani this summer. What seems certain, though, is that Man Utd and Bayern are set to battle hard for both players.
