Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has given up hope of signing Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic after targeting him over the summer.
The Red Devils have been linked with the Croatia international and reportedly had three bids rejected with the highest £44million not matching the Serie A side’s £48.2million valuation.
Mourinho, who is understood to still want a wide attacking player, suggested in an interview that hope of Perisic moving to Old Trafford this summer was over.
“That’s football,” Mourinho told Premium Sport.
“If I was playing against Inter tomorrow I’d want to win.
“They’re strong, they put up a good defence to keep someone who’s an important player for them. That’s football.”
