Mourinho goads Liverpool about not being in the FA Cup
Jose Mourinho was eager to point out that Liverpool are no longer in the FA Cup after Manchester United’s Champions League exit.
United were beaten 2-1 by Sevilla in the second leg of their last-16 tie at Old Trafford on Tuesday, following a 0-0 draw in Spain.
Mourinho absolutely f***ed it by changing a winning team and approaching the game so tentatively.
Marcus Rashford, whose double inspired victory over Liverpool on Saturday, was shifted out to the right to accommodate Alexis Sanchez, who three pundits have called to be dropped.
Marouane Fellaini started his first game since November, while Paul Pogba and Juan Mata were both benched.
But Mourinho kept Liverpool on his mind after the game, pointing out that while they are in the Champions League quarter-finals, they’re out of the FA Cup.
“Liverpool are in to the next phase of the tournament? Yes, this is true, but they do not have the FA Cup either,” Mourinho told BT Sport.
“We still have the top four in the league to fight for and the FA Cup too so it’s not the end of the world.
“It is disappointing but it happens. I don’t want to make a drama of it. That’s football.”
