Jose Mourinho is not willing to let Harry Winks leave Tottenham on loan this month amid links to Valencia, according to reports.

The midfielder joined Tottenham when he was just five years old. He progressed through their youth team before making his senior debut for them in November 2014.

Winks did not feature much in his first two seasons in the first team. But from the 2016/17 campaign onwards, he has been a regular for Spurs.

In this time he also earned his first call-ups for England at senior level. After representing his country in the youth ranks, he made his senior debut in 2017.

He has since been capped 10 times and he scored his first international goal in November 2019 against Kosovo.

The 24-year-old made 31 Premier League appearances for Spurs last season. That is the most games he has ever played in a single league season. His next best came in 2018/19 as he featured 26 times.

But Winks has fallen down the pecking order this season. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Moussa Sissoko and Tanguy Ndombele have all been favoured ahead of Winks so far this campaign.

He has only made five starts in the Premier League this term. The central midfielder has featured 15 times in total, with five more starts coming in the Europa League group stages.

With first-team opportunities being increasingly hard to come by, Winks has been linked with a move away in January. Reports have recently emerged that Valencia are interested in signing him.

But Mourinho has cooled talk of Winks leaving. The Daily Mail have reported that there is “no chance” of Winks departing during this winter transfer window.
