Jose Mourinho has reminded everyone that has criticised him for not giving youth a chance of his record at Chelsea with youngsters.
The Manchester United boss provided Scott McTominay with a chance on Tuesday night in their 2-0 victory over Benfica in the Champions League and the 20-year-old didn’t disappoint.
McTominay started the match for Mourinho’s men and played the full 90 minutes in a central midfield role.
Up until now McTominay only had a couple of Premier League appearances to his name and Mourinho was happy that he could give the midfielder a taste of first-team football.
Mourinho said: “Scott? Even more fantastic with a manager who never gives a chance to a young guy!
“In Chelsea, [I selected] the youngest player ever to play in the Champions League, I think, in Dominic Solanke.
“Again, with a manager who never gives a chance to young guys. I’m very happy for Scott, [he has] great stability and great personality.”
