Jose Mourinho recently turned down a ‘millionaire offer’ to replace David Moyes as West Ham manager, according to reports in Italy.

The former Chelsea boss is currently plying his trade in Italy with AS Roma – who he led to Europa Conference League success last season.

He is doing a stellar job with the Giallorossi and is hoping to guide them back to the Champions League by finishing in the top four in Serie A or by winning the Europa League.

Rumours of a return to the Premier League seem to creep up every month or so and the latest team to be linked with Mourinho is West Ham.

The Hammers are in the middle of a brutal relegation battle and current manager Moyes has been under pressure for much of the campaign.

Despite the fact the Scot is still in a job, Graham Potter and Brendan Rodgers have been linked with a move to the London Stadium after they were sacked by Chelsea and Leicester, respectively.

West Ham have shown lots of ambition in the transfer market in recent years and they look like they will be equally as ambitious when they decide to part ways with Moyes.

Potter, Rodgers and Mourinho are all highly-rated, reputable managers and any of the three would be a good appointment.

According to La Roma 24 (via Sport Witness), Mourinho turned down an offer to become West Ham boss ‘over three weeks ago’.

The Irons put a ‘millionaire offer’ on the table to try and tempt the Portuguese into signing a three-year contract.

The offer was apparently worth €10million a year, but Mourinho is ‘focused’ on finishing the season with Roma.

He is also on Real Madrid’s shortlist with Carlo Ancelotti’s future up in the air, while a move to Saudi Arabia to earn a ‘mind-boggling’ salary could also be an option.

This was the first report to mention how much West Ham offered Mourinho to come back to England. A few days ago it was claimed by Siamo La Roma that Mourinho rejected the opportunity.

This report stated that no top club has approached Mourinho about taking over at the end of the season.

West Ham face Newcastle United on Wednesday evening as they look to make it two wins in a row after Sunday’s success against Southampton.

Newcastle are one of the most in-form teams in the Premier League and will provide a huge test for Moyes’ side.
