Jose Mourinho wasted little time during his Manchester United press conference on Friday.

Quizzed over a range of topics, the United manager offered short, simple answers ahead of the visit to Premier League leaders Manchester City on Saturday.

After confirming that the only player injured for the derby was Sergio Romero, the Portuguese was asked whether United have the players capable of hurting City.

“Yes we have” came the simple reply.

Mourinho was also asked whether Liverpool’s approach and comprehensive victory over City on Wednesday changed United’s game against them. “No” was the answer.

The next question regarded Alexis Sanchez, who United beat City to the signing of in January.

Put to him that the deal showed United are able to compete with City in the transfer market, Mourinho said: “Are we? That’s your opinion.

“It’s your opinion. Did they spend money in January? Did they?

“Do you know that [City were in for Sanchez]? Can you confirm that? I don’t know, I have no idea if they were interested or not, I’ve no idea.”
