Jose Mourinho has rejected a remarkable €100m contract to return to management with Guangzhou Evergrande.
Mourinho has been out of coaching since being sacked by Manchester United in December.
The Portuguese has remained in football as a pundit, all while continuing to tease his comeback.
Celtic are thought to have approached Mourinho with an offer, with Chinese Super League club Guangzhou Evergrande also interested.
Sky Sports say the Chinese club prepared ‘what is believed to be the biggest managerial offer in world football’ – worth £28m a season with bonuses.
It would have almost doubled Pep Guardiola’s £15m-a-campaign wage at Manchester City, but Mourinho’s Champions League and European aspirations saw him turn it down.
The 56-year-old even ‘had the right to choose the duration of the contract on offer,’ and was ‘flattered by the interest’ despite the rejection.
