Jermaine Jenas believes there can only be one outcome from Tottenham’s dismal defeat to Dinamo Zagreb – the sacking of Jose Mourinho.

Spurs let slip a 2-0 aggregate lead to bow out of the Europa League in humiliating fashion on Thursday night.

Mislav Orsic’s stunning hat-trick wiped out Spurs advantage on an evening to forget in Croatia.

The defeat left Mourinho’s job hanging by a thread and Jenas says there is no way back for him now.

Speaking on the Friday Football Social, the former Tottenham winger said it was the manner of the defeat that was the most worrying.

He said: “You could tell by the body language of the players that they were not engaged in this game at all, they didn’t seem to be responding to what Jose probably asked of them.

“I don’t feel like the players were playing for him at all and that’s that’s my biggest concern.

“I think the minute that happens, only one thing happens after that and that’s a manager losing his job.”

The Europa League exit followed on from a costly derby defeat to Arsenal, leaving Spurs with ground to make up if they are to secure a Champions League berth.

And the Match of the Day pundit said the negativity which followed the 2-1 loss had infected the whole of the club and spilled over into Thursday’s display.

“The hangover from the north London derby was was  clear as day and the players that weren’t a part of that game didn’t perform in any way shape or form.

“It was quite possibly one of the worst performances I’ve seen from the Tottenham side personally.”

Mourinho was tasked to transform a promising side into trophy winners by Spurs owner Daniel Levy. However, Jenas says the former Chelsea, Manchester United and Porto boss has failed to address their perceived mental frailness.

“He’s won his titles with teams that have got obvious qualities. They’re mentality in all of these games, they are mentally strong teams that can deal with these types of moments. The last two games in their biggest moments in the season, they’ve completely melted.”
