Shkodran Mustafi will leave Arsenal in the summer “at the latest”, according to the player’s father and agent.

After spending a few years with Everton early into his career, he went onto have successful spells with Sampdoria and Valencia.

Mustafi made 64 La Liga appearances for Valencia between 2014 and 2016. Arsenal spent around £35m to bring him to the Premier League ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

The defender is now halfway into his fifth season with the Gunners. He made over 30 appearances for them in each of his first three years at the club.

But his number of appearances have decreased over the past year. Mustafi only made 15 Premier League appearances in 2019/20.

This has continued into this season as he is yet to start in the league for the Gunners. The 28-year-old’s contract is set to expire at the end of this season.

Mesut Ozil’s spell at Arsenal came to an end this month as he joined Fenerbache. The German’s contract was also set to expire this summer.

The defender’s father Kujtim Mustafi, who is also his agent, told transfermarkt that he will leave Arsenal this summer:

“The fact is, Shkodran will leave the club in the summer at the latest. I also read the rumours yesterday that Shkodran should terminate his contract.

“To clarify: There are currently no discussions about a contract termination.”
