Neville demands three Man Utd transfers to save ‘appalling’ window

Gary Neville claims Manchester United’s transfer dealings have been “appalling” this summer and has urged his former club to make three signings to improve Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad before the deadline.

Donny van de Beek is the only bit of business United have done this summer, with a long drawn out attempt to bring Jadon Sancho to Old Trafford ending seemingly in disappointment.

Dayot Upamecano and Alex Telles are the centre-back and left-back most heavily linked, with those two of the positions thought to need strengthening.

With Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City spending big to improve their squads, United run the risk of being left behind on the pitch by not acting.

And Neville has called out the United board with just five days to go before the transfer window closes, naming the three positions United must strengthen.

Writing on his official Twitter account, Neville said: “It’s appalling that in this market which is probably the easiest in PL history to get transfers done that United haven’t done more yet!

“They must get Ole a centre-back, left-back and forward pre deadline! The others are managing to get things over the line why not United!”

Neville then dismissed a reply which suggested ‘panic buying’ at the end of a transfer window was not the answer to their problems.

“They’ve needed these positions filling for 12 months, had a national lockdown to regroup and re-set and ample time to manoeuvre deals to a conclusion.”
