Neville makes shock Premier League title prediction as Arsenal, Man Utd attempt to ‘beat’ Man City
Man Utd legend Gary Neville has made a shock Premier League title prediction before the new campaign starts this weekend.
Man City became treble-winners last season and this started with them lifting the Premier League for a third successive season.
Pep Guardiola’s side were challenged by Arsenal last season as the North London outfit mounted a sustained fight for the title.
Mikel Arteta’s side fell apart during the run-in as they ended up five points adrift of Man City, who finished on 89 points.
Arsenal have moved quickly to acquire their top targets this summer as they have spent around £200m to sign Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber.
Neville has been impressed by these additions and he even thinks “Arsenal can beat” Man City to the title this season.
“I don’t think Arsenal could have done any more to close the gap,” Neville said on The Overlap.
“They have shown real intent with the signings they have made. My concern is that they are the only team I look at and are the only team that I think could win the league. With the three signings they have made they are going to be better.
“Just because of the three thing and never winning a fourth, I am going to go Arsenal to win the league, City second. I think Arsenal can beat them.”

Neville’s former teammate at United – Louis Saha – thinks Man Utd “will be able to mount a title challenge” but their chances “would have been greater if they signed Harry Kane.
“To be at the very top. The squad is now in a position to mount a challenge for all the honours available and last season they showed they could perform on a more consistent basis,” Saha told Betfred.
“It’s so difficult to predict what’s going to happen in the Premier League in particular, but I do believe that Manchester United will be able to mount a title challenge.
“I believe their chances of winning the Premier League would have been greater if they had signed Harry Kane. They could definitely win the Premier League, but I believe that there’s currently a few teams who can win it as well.
“The club’s target this season has to be to win the Premier League but it’s going to be very tough to do as it’s such a difficult league to win. They need to start the new season feeling confident and have an element of arrogance about themselves, believing that they could win the title.”
