New Man United centre-back a priority for Solskjaer

The signing of a new centre-back for Man United is a priority for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during this January transfer window, according to reports.
Man United are on a great run of form of late, as they are unbeaten in six games in all competitions. Included in this run was the huge 6-2 victory over Leeds United and the 1-0 win against Wolves.
This upturn in form has come while Liverpool have drawn consecutive league games. This has allowed United to close the gap and if they win their game in hand they will go level on points with Liverpool at the top of the table.

Given their strong position in the league, this transfer window is key for United as they hope to sustain their title push.
According to The Telegraph, Solskjaer believes a new centre-back signing is vital for Manchester United during this winter window.
Speaking in September, Gary Neville also suggested that United need a new centre-back above anything else:
“We can talk about [Jadon] Sancho all we like but until United get a centre back who can run and defend one-on-ones they are never going to win the league.
“They are never going to win the Premier League with that centre back pairing.
“They have to get a mobile, dominant centre half in alongside either Lindelof or Maguire.
“Over the years, the best centre back partnerships have always had that really quick one who has lightning pace to get across and snuff out the danger. Lindelof and Maguire just don’t have that.”
