Mauricio Pochettino wants to bring Spurs striker Harry Kane to Newcastle United if he becomes the new manager, according to reports.

Pochettino has been out of work since Tottenham sacked him last November, with the 48-year-old choosing to focus on his family and friends.

He has kept himself in the Premier League consciousness, however, by admitting he is “dreaming” of a return to north London.

Newcastle have also been heavily linked with the Argentinean and could make him one of the highest-paid managers in the world if their protracted takeover goes through.

And TodoFichajes claims that Newcastle have ‘practically closed the agreement’ to make Pochettino their next manager as long as they takeover of the club is ultimately successful.

Newcastle ‘have seen their transfer budget grow exponentially’ and the report from Spain adds that Pochettino has ‘a series of conditions’ including the pursuit of Harry Kane from Tottenham.

Sources have told the Spanish outlet that Newcastle’s ‘main objective’ for the next transfer window is ‘the hiring of Harry Kane’.

TodoFichajes adds that Pochettino has ‘personally telephoned’ Kane but Spurs ‘will not negotiate less than €100m’.
