No Clyne, Ings or Markovic in Liverpool CL squad

Nathaniel Clyne, Danny Ings and Lazar Markovic have all been left out of Liverpool’s Champions League squad.

Clyne has a hamstring injury but there had been little indication that he would be a long-term absentee.

Klopp was asked last month whether he had a return date for Clyne and he said:

“No. We sorted it and with all experts and everything, not just our own medical department. Having a rest and doing a program in the summer, he would be sorted. But he started again and was not. That’s how medicine is.

“I have had situations like this before. For us it’s another situation which is not perfect. We work on these things to find a solution.”

Ings is fit and has played three Premier League 2 games and yet has not been included in Liverpool’s Champions League squad. Also snubbed is Markovic, who has not played for Liverpool for over two years but remains at the club.

As expected, the injured Adam Lallana was included in the squad along with Philippe Coutinho, now staying at the club after failing to move to Barcelona.
