Noble ‘disappointed and angry’ over Payet actions

Mark Noble has displayed excellent fatherly instinct by saying that Dimitri Payet has let West Ham down.

The Hammers brought a difficult week to a close with a resounding 3-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday, with Payet nowhere to be seen.

Manager Slaven Bilic revealed that the Frenchman was refusing to train for the club on Thursday, and asked for the headlines to be about his side’s performance at the weekend, not their wantaway star.

Goalscorer Andy Carroll took the opportunity to have a pop at the 29-year-old after the game, and now captain Noble has grounded him and sent him to his room.

“I am angry and disappointed, because I have always said that he is one of the best players I have ever played with,” he said.

“I had – and I say had because I haven’t really spoken to him for the last two or three weeks – a great relationship with him, but I don’t know his reasons.

“I am not going to comment on why he wanted to leave but I do know that if someone doesn’t want to play for the team then they are better off not even playing.”
