Oh Jack: Wilshere out for further spell…

Jack Wilshere will be out for four to six weeks after suffering a setback with his recovery from a fractured ankle, as yet another season threatens to be ruined by injury.

Wilshere returned to training midway through last month after stepping up his recovery from his injury, and Arsene Wenger originally thought that he could be fit to face Stoke City. However, in midweek Arsenal’s manager confirmed that Wilshere had suffered a further issue in his recovery.

“I have not seen Jack Wilshere in the last two or three days,” Wenger said. “He is progressing slowly and I can’t tell you much more about it. I will talk with my medical staff today.  It is slower than expected as I expected him to be back and available after the break but unfortunately he will not be available for Saturday.

“He had a little setback and I have to know about it but I can’t tell you much more as I have no medical information.”

Now, reports suggest that the ‘little setback’ is actually a period of four to six weeks.

The news will come as a blow to Wilshere, who faces a battle to prove his full fitness ahead of Euro 2016 next summer.

The following list shows all the injuries Wilshere has suffered since the beginning of 2010. Ouch:
