Ouch: Liverpool rejected Alisson for £4m in 2015

Liverpool missed out on the chance to sign Alisson for £4m in 2015, according to a report.

The Sunday Mirror have an exclusive on the story that Liverpool were sent a detailed scouting dossier on Alisson in 2015, when his agents were trying to secure him a move from Internacional.

In fairness to Liverpool, that same dossier was sent to a number of clubs in the Premier League and Championship clubs, before Alisson eventually joined Roma a year later.

The deal at that time would have cost Liverpool £3.1m up front, followed by a potential £900,000 in add ons.

‘The revelation that the decision not to take a punt on Alisson three years ago has cost Liverpool a staggering £63million will shock the club’s American owners,’ the Mirror’s report says.

That sounds a little harsh, really. Plenty of players who could have moved for lower fees years before eventually get their big-money move. Nobody really saw Alisson’s rise coming, or plenty of clubs would have been prepared to pay the £4m.
