Mesut Ozil could leave Arsenal as soon as this weekend after he reached an agreement to leave the Emirates Stadium, according to reports.

The World Cup winner has entered the final six months of his lucrative deal with the Gunners – which is said to be worth some £350,000-a-week – and can now talk to overseas teams.

While the 32-year-old has not been selected in 10 months and become a marginalised figure, he has won multiple FA Cups at the Emirates and been a key player in runs to the League Cup and Europa League Final in 2018 and 2019 respectively.

Ozil was not included in Arsenal’s Premier League and Europa League squads for this term and he nows looks set to complete a move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

Goal claims that Ozil is ‘on the verge of leaving for Fenerbahce’ after Arsenal and the playmaker made ‘a breakthrough in negotiations’.

The report adds that ‘an agreement which will allow the 32-year-old to end his stay in north London has now been reached in principle’ and that ‘only a few finer details left to resolve’.

The website’s sources ‘expect Ozil to travel to Turkey in the coming days to complete a free transfer to Fenerbahce’.

Ozil took part in a Twitter question and answer session on Monday and dropped plenty of hints about his next destination, with Fenerbahce and DC United reported to be among the teams leading the chase for his signature.

With only six months left on his terms with the Gunners, the 32-year-old was asked if he will continue his career when his contract at Arsenal runs out.

Ozil replied: “I definitely will. There are two countries I want to play football in before I retire: Turkey and USA. If I went to Turkey, I could only go to Fenerbahce.”
