Pardew: Klopp’s Liverpool similar to Rodgers’

Alan Pardew says that Liverpool will be title contenders, but doesn’t think that they are much different to Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Liverpool are level on points with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League, but have a gentler run of fixtures coming up.

That starts with a trip to Pardew’s Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon. Palace have lost their last two league games.

Jurgen Klopp’s team have been widely praised for their form this season, but Pardew believes that their characteristics are the same as when Rodgers was in charge.

“We have to focus on all the fantastic individuals they have,” Pardew said.

“The way the league is panning out, you have to put Liverpool in contention for the title.

“They play high intensity and they’re quick to the ball, and that’s driven by the manager, but Brendan Rodgers’ team wasn’t too dissimilar.

“Liverpool will be looking for consistency now and if you catch them on the wrong day they can be very difficult.
