Scott Parker has ridiculed the decision to schedule Fulham’s game against Tottenham Hotspur for this Wednesday.

Fulham were due to face Chelsea this Friday. Meanwhile, Tottenham were set to face Aston Villa on Wednesday.

But that tie had to be postponed as a result of a recent COVID-19 outbreak at Villa’s training ground.

With that game now off, the Premier League announced that Fulham will instead face Tottenham on Wednesday evening.

The original date for this meeting was 30 December. Fulham were forced to call it off at late notice due to a COVID outbreak of their own.

It was revealed on Monday that Fulham will face Tottenham next, which gave the sides just two days notice.

Parker has been left frustrated by this call from the Premier League. He suggested that if he knew that the game would take place this Wednesday he would have rested players in the FA Cup against QPR.

Speaking at his latest press conference, as cited by The Independent, Parker labelled the rescheduled game as “madness”:

“To confirm that on Monday morning is scandalous. You’re constantly working out well in advance.

“The decisions I would have made with QPR, or the players who are just coming back.

“We’ve had it tough with Covid. That’s quickly changing Monday morning. It’s madness really.”
