West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini has claimed a report in The Times in which he is described as ‘increasingly frustrated’ at his line-ups being leaked is a “lie”.
A Twitter user called @ExWHUemployee has allegedly named over 60 successive West Ham teams before they were announced, which was said to be frustrating the Chilean, who has presided over four defeats in his opening games as manager.
The Twitter user in question has since been on talkSPORT saying: “I’m just good at putting together bits of information…this ‘mole’ stuff is ridiculous.”
Pellegrini has now been asked about the story and said: “First of all, it is not true – it is a lie. I am not angry about that.
“Normally in every team I manage before, the day before the game I work with set-pieces. All the players know the day before – who will play, who will not play.
“So many players can talk with other players. I am not keeping the starting XI until three or four hours before the game.
“There are a lot of reasons why some people can know the team.”
