Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plans on putting Facundo Pellistri “straight” into his Man Utd first team, according to Penarol secretary Evaristo Gonzalez.

Pellistri signed a five-year deal  at Man Utd after completing a move for a fee understood to be 10million euros (£9m) from Penarol in his home country.

On joining, the Uruguayan winger said: “To join a club with the history of Manchester United is a dream come true.

“I have learnt a lot at Penarol and I would like to thank them for everything they have done for me. To have the confidence of the manager is an amazing feeling and I know that working with him will be perfect for my development.

“I am coming into a squad full of great players who I will learn from every day. Everyone knows that Manchester United is a club that gives young players an opportunity and I am ready to work hard every day to earn those chances and prove myself in England.”

Despite his relative inexperience, Penarol claim that Pellistri will be thrown straight into Solskjaer’s first-team plans.

“Pellistri is going straight to the first team. He’s going to play,” Gonzalez told Referi (via The Metro).

“During negotiations they asked me if I could guarantee that he was in the bubble because they need him.

“Then it will be a matter of whether the manager uses him.”

Penarol’s vice-president Rodolfo Cantino added: “Everything was agreed, even the form of payment. There are two payments, one now and the other in July 2021, which we accept because Manchester United are a top club.

“Of course we asked for it [to keep Pellistri on loan], we tried in every way but they argued that they wanted the player now. It’s normal, when a European club buys a player, they go there immediately.”
