Pep Guardiola has confirmed what we all already knew: that Manchester City won’t be signing Lionel Messi.
Messi has long been linked with a move to City by people who think an Argentinean with life-long ties to Barcelona would leave one of the best clubs in the world and relocate his family thousands of miles to a country with sh*te weather.
The speculation has rarely been entered by Messi, City, Barca or indeed anyone actually involved with any of the parties, and Guardiola put an end to the rumours on Tuesday.
“That’s not true,” he said of the speculation.
“Lionel Messi signed a new contract a week ago.
“It was never going to happen. He wants to finish his career with Barcelona.
“If he wanted to leave then he wouldn’t have signed that new contract.”
