Pep Guardiola has paid tribute to Arsenal duo Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil ahead of their meeting with Man City on Sunday.
Both players are out of contract at the end of the season and City are said to be at the front of the queue to sign Sanchez should he refuse to extend his terms at the Emirates.
Guardiola was reluctant to talk about Sanchez other than to highlight how critical he is to the Gunners.
“He’s an Arsenal player. His manager has to speak about him,” he said. “He’s so important for them with his huge talent, we have to try to control him.”
Ozil is also set to become a free agent but the German’s form over the last year has quietened the clamour around the playmaker.
However, Guardiola believes Ozil retains the quality that the ex-Barca manager faced during many Clasico meetings with Real Madrid.
“I don’t have doubts about him,” Guardiola told his press conference. “I enjoy his quality and I suffered when he was at Madrid.
“People always criticise when their team lose and the big targets are criticised. I admire him a lot. Maybe his body language doesn’t help him too much but sometimes body language can confuse the media or old players.”
