Perisic explains who persuaded him to reject Man United

Ivan Perisic says that Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti was integral in his decision to reject Manchester United.

Perisic was one of United’s main targets in this summer’s window, with Jose Mourinho keen to add width to his squad.

But the winger eventually turned down a move to Old Trafford in favour of signing a new deal with the Italian giants.

He has been in fine form since, scoring seven goals and assisting a further six in 15 games.

According to the man himself, Spalletti helped persuade him to stay at the San Siro.

“Spalletti told us that every player is important and we got proof of that in the win, as even those who haven’t had as much space made their mark,” he told Mediaset Premium after scoring a hat-trick in a victory over Chievo.

“Spalletti was extremely important in convincing me to stay.”
