Petit picks out one star who would be ‘the answer’ for Chelsea

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland would be “the answer” for Chelsea in the transfer market, according to Emmanuel Petit.
The 20-year-old has been linked with a move following another fine season in Germany, with the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United all reportedly interested in the Norway international.
Haaland has scored 59 goals in 57 appearances for Dortmund, including a brace in the 4-1 DFB-Pokal final win over RB Leipzig on May 13.
Jorginho prejudice makes Ballon d’Or a laughing matter
His Champions League form is also unparalleled – he needed just 14 games in the competition to reach 20 goals – and Petit thinks Haaland is the main player Chelsea should be targeting this summer.
Petit said: “Chelsea need a new striker and someone who scores lots of goals. Erling Haaland is the answer. He’s strong, powerful and young with a bright future in front of him.
“Haaland’s value is already very high, and connections with Tuchel increase his chance of joining Chelsea.
“Offensively, he could become the finisher that Chelsea really need. I can imagine his relationship with Mount, Havertz, Pulisic and Ziyech making him score lots of goals at Stamford Bridge.
“Chelsea need a top striker, it’s as simple as that.”
And Peter Crouch thinks Chelsea are definitely in the Premier League title race next season if they can sign Haaland this summer.
Crouch said: “Lukaku would fit in at Chelsea. They’ve got pace, which suits him, willing runners, and they’d have an abundance of ability around him.
“He’s been at Chelsea before and I think he’s got something to prove there. I could see him being a good fit under Thomas Tuchel.
“Similarly, if Chelsea sign Erling Haaland, they are title contenders without a doubt. They’ve got a squad capable of a title challenge and will have confidence after winning the Champions League.
“If they get Haaland, they’re 100% in it. It’s going to be a fascinating season to see if anyone can topple Manchester City.”
Having joined from Red Bull Salzburg in December 2019, Haaland’s prolific form has caught the attention of plenty of clubs – but he suggested in May that he could stay put this summer.
“Well I have a contract for a couple of years, so I am respectful towards my contract,” he told Viaplay.
“I am a simple guy. When I like something I just want to have more – when I score a goal, I always chase the next goal.”
