Mason Greenwood and Phil Foden have been dropped from the England squad for the trip to Denmark after bringing girls back to their hotel room in Iceland, according to reports.
Foden started for the Three Lions, while Greenwood came off the bench in England’s 1-0 victory over Iceland on Saturday – but reports claim the duo have now got themselves in trouble for breaking Covid safety guidelines.
The pair were both missing from England training on Monday with the Daily Mail claiming they have been ‘KICKED OUT of the England squad’.
A report in Icelandic newspaper DV claims Foden and Greenwood are in ‘trouble after receiving a visit from two Icelandic girls at their hotel’ with the ‘girls’ showing ‘off their trip to the hotel via social media Snapchat’.
According to the outlet, one girl allegedly says on her Snapchat: “Casual Sunday with us XXXX. She was booking a hotel to meet who?” With the other answering: “Mason Greenwood, I’m stressed. Very fucking stressed.”
The report adds that ‘players are not allowed to meet other people’ aside from their team-mates in the hotel and at training.
Speaking to a journalist, one girl claimed: “We had no idea about these rules, they never said we could not take pictures. We have sent them and let them know, but they have not opened it.”
She added: “The only thing I can say is that I had been talking to one of them for a few days. I’m not going to say where.”
Speaking to a journalist, the other girl said: “We do not want to discuss this, we do not want to get them in trouble.” They insisted to DV that the pictures were only intended ‘only intended for close friends’.
The report adds that ‘someone stabbed them in the back by recording it and sharing it’.
