David Alaba’s agent is attempting to get the Bayern Munich defender a move to Chelsea this summer with his client proving too expensive for Real Madrid and Barcelona, according a German journalist.

The Austria international, who has played almost 400 times for Bayern, has rejected a new deal in Germany as he decides on the next part of his career.

His current contract at the Bundesliga club expires in June 2021, meaning he can talk to interested clubs from January.

And Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk claims that Chelsea are towards the top of the queue for Alaba with his agent, Pini Zahavi, possessing “close contacts with the club”.

“The clubs who have made contact so far are not Real Madrid and Barcelona, they, at the moment, cannot simply afford him,” Falk told Bild (via Sport Witness).

“Paris Saint Germain are the first option I’ve heard but he doesn’t really want the move.

“What will be interesting now is Chelsea. His agent Pini Zahavi lives in London and has close contacts with the club.

“I heard he is trying to transfer him there and I think for him if he isn’t going to Spain, that’s a very nice city to move to.”
