Andrea Pirlo has not yet made a decision as to whether he will link up with Antonio Conte at Chelsea.

Pirlo announced his retirement from playing at the weekend, with the midfielder planning to hang up his boots at the end of the current MLS season in December.

The 38-year-old has not yet considered his long-term future, with a potential coaching role at Italy or one of his former clubs an option.

The idea of linking up with former Italy manager Conte at Stamford Bridge has also been mooted, but the World Cup winner is not sure.

“My future, I don’t know yet. I will return to Italy in December,” he told Gazetta dello Sport.

“An assistant to Conte? People are saying that. I have my ideas but I need time to decide.”

On his decision to retire, the midfielder added: “You just realise that the time has come.

“Every day you have physical problems, you cannot train as you like because you always have some stuff. At my age, that’s enough.

“It’s not that you can go on forever to 50. I’ll do something else.”
