Former Premier League striker Kevin Phillips “can’t believe” that Tottenham winger Dejan Kulusevski is only 21 years old.

The Swedish international joined Tottenham in the January transfer window and has hit the ground running in the Premier League.

Why Manchester United now have top-four hope again…

He has scored three and assisted six in 11 top-flight appearances for Antonio Conte’s side.

Kulusevski joined on an 18-month loan with an option to buy for €35m. Tottenham paid a €10m loan fee and can pay the €35m permanent fee over five years.

His fine form has surprised Phillips, who believes the north Londoners have “unearthed a gem” by signing the Swede.

“He plays with such a maturity,” he told Football Insider. “You almost can’t believe he’s 21. He plays with no fear. He plays with a freedom. Out of possession, he knows his role and in possession he is fearless.

“We see that with a lot of the top youngsters these days, especially in a team that is full of confidence. Right now, Spurs are trying stuff and it’s all coming off.

“Kulusevski is an amazing player. He is already building a great relationship with [Heung-min] Son and [Harry] Kane. They are a threat for any defence in the Premier League. Kulusevski will just get better and better.

“Spurs have unearthed a gem there. He is an exciting young player with a big future in front of him, that’s for sure.”

Meanwhile, Jamie Redknapp thinks Spurs could provide Liverpool with their biggest headache in their efforts to beat Manchester City to the Premier League title.

A pulsating 2-2 draw against Man City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday did nothing to decide the title with the Citizens still one point ahead of Liverpool heading into the home straight.

Redknapp told the Daily Mail: “I find this title race impossible to call. I’ve got this feeling Liverpool v Tottenham on May 7 will be significant. Can Klopp’s crew navigate that one? That might be the match which poses them a major problem. But what a rivalry this is.”
