Plot thickens over Chelsea-bound Pedro

Said reports emanate from the Daily Mirror, who claim that Pedro’s former Barcelona team-mate Victor Valdes, as well as Spain compatriot David De Gea, warned the winger over van Gaal’s ‘brutal style of management’.
There’s a lot of ‘may have’ and ‘it has been suggested’-based conjecture, but it seems conceivable that the 28-year-old held discussions with the two goalkeepers before deciding not to join.
According to the Daily Mail however, it was a conversation with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho which convinced Pedro to join the Premier League champions instead of United.
With a move to Manchester having been mooted all summer, van Gaal and United were said to have ‘ended their interest’ in the World Cup winner late on Wednesday.
The news broke at the same time Chelsea’s interest in the forward became concrete, and the Daily Mail claim it was a combination of Mourinho’s personal intervention in the deal, as well as van Gaal’s continued doubts over Pedro, that contributed to the Spain international’s imminent move to Stamford Bridge.
