Mauricio Pochettino wants to sign four players for Tottenham this summer, possibly including Davinson Sanchez.

Tottenham are the only Premier League club yet to sign a player so far this summer, but have been linked with Juan Foyth, Ross Barkley and Jeremy Toljan among others.

Ajax centre-half Sanchez looks almost certain to become their first purchase, with Spurs agreeing an initial £28m fee for the Colombian.

But the north London side are unlikely to end their business there, with Pochettino outlining his wishes to sign three more.

“I want four players,” he said. “It’s possible yes but it’s not easy.

“We expect to sign some players. That is our aim.”

When asked directly about speculation regarding Sanchez, Pochettino replied: “I never speak about rumours.”

He added: “We always sign three or four every season. It’s important to try to assess the players who have possibility to come. We are a very strong group and we create good habits and a good philosophy.

“It’s not easy for us to sign the right profile. The most important thing is trying to be right in the players we sign for the future of the club.”
