Pochettino defends ‘active’ performance of Kane

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has rushed to the defence of star striker Harry Kane, insisting his performance against Watford was ‘good’.

Tottenham ground out a 1-1 draw at Watford on Saturday, forced to battle for a point after Davinson Sanchez was shown a red card for putting a forearm into Richarlison’s face.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side face an uphill struggle to climb back into the league’s top four, having slipped to sixth in the table.

Kane has two goals in the last four games for Spurs, and his boss is not worried about his performances despite the team’s slump.

“I think today he was very active. After 50 minutes, 11 v 11, Harry was very active. I am happy with his performance,” Pochettino told Football London.

“Harry was good and it’s so difficult to play ten against 11. The effort as a striker when you have to play like that in the second half, you feel a little bit more alone. You need to defend and you need to run.”
