Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino claims that Serge Aurier knows the standards he is expected to attain at the club after several controversial incidents in Paris.
Aurier was convicted of assaulting a police officer outside a nightclub, while he famously called former PSG boss Laurent Blanc a “f****t”.
Doubts have been raised about Aurier’s signing by some concerned Tottenham fans but Pochettino claims he trusts the Ivory Coast defender.
“I’m the first to make mistakes in my life. It’s important people give the opportunity to show that you learn,” said Pochettino.
“We had a long chat. He knows very well how we are, what we expect. It’s so important, not only him, every player, how they behave.
“When you know and you meet some people, always you start to assess him from the day you meet them, and for me we start from now.”
Pochettino was also asked questions about Dele Alli’s middle-finger gesture while on England duty and insisted:
“Dele Alli has improved a lot from last season and his behaviour is fantastic.
“That was a joke with a team mate. He was unlucky because the camera recorded that moment.”
