According to reports, Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino ‘wants’ to sign four more players before this summer’s transfer window closes.

The Blues have recouped over £200m through player sales this summer with Kai Havertz, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic among their notable departures.

So far this summer, Chelsea have splashed out around £180m on signings with huge fees going on Christopher Nkunku, Axel Disasi and Nicolas Jackson.

The Premier League club are far from finished though as their summer priority is to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton.

Chelsea have offered £80m for the Ecuador international, who is valued at around £100m by Brighton.

They have been in talks with Brighton over Caicedo throughout this summer but they are now closer to finalising a deal for Leeds United and USA midfielder Tyler Adams, who could cost just £20m as there is a relegation release clause in his contract.

The Daily Mail are reporting that Pochettino ‘wants’ four more signings with Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise and Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic also featuring on the manager’s transfer wishlist.

‘Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is expecting four new arrivals before the window closes.

‘Leeds United’s Tyler Adams should be the first while bids are being worked on for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise and Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic. Brighton’s Moises Caicedo is also making it clear he wishes to join.

‘Chelsea, of course, have to meet Brighton’s £105m valuation for Caicedo but Adams is a more straight-forward release clause of around £20million.

‘Palace have not been happy about Chelsea’s approach for Olise, who is also on City’s radar, but Palace want Chelsea left-back Lewis Hall on loan.

‘Brighton say they expect Caicedo to start their opening game.’

Former Premier League attacker Gabby Agbonlahor thinks Chelsea “will struggle” to qualify for the Champions League if they do not sign an “A-list midfielder”.

“Chelsea will struggle to finish in the top four without signing an A-list midfielder,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider.

“They have Enzo Fernandez who you know needs partnership with a big player in the middle.

“Caicedo and Fernandez will probably be closer to one of the best midfield partnerships in the world. So Chelsea still need that other midfielder in there to create a partnership.

“And if you haven’t got your midfield sorted, you’re gonna struggle to get into the top four, you look at all the teams that have a strong midfield, for example, Liverpool have rebuilt that area.

“Arsenal have Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Martin Odegaard also, so Chelsea must strengthen in that area.”
