Pochettino wants to improve Villa star Grealish – reports

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has identified Aston Villa star Jack Grealish as one of his top targets for the summer transfer window, according to reports.

ESPN FC claims that sources close to Spurs have told them that the Premier League club could make a move for Grealish.

Leicester City are also understood to be interested in the 22-year-old, who really hit top form near the end of the Championship season – with two goals, two assists and three man-of-the-match displays in his last nine matches – in which Villa lost to Fulham in the play-off final.

Since that loss to Fulham reports have suggested that Villa are now days away from administration as the club enters a financial crisis.

Their mounting debt means that Villa are expecting interest in a number players from clubs looking to take advantage of their situation.

Pochettino likes to develop players, as he has showed in recent years at Spurs, and the report continues by saying that he thinks he can make Grealish ‘into a better player’.

Negotiating could be tricky, though, as Tottenham don’t want to pay a high fee for a player in the second tier of English football, while Villa don’t want to lose Grealish on the cheap.
