Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has heaped praise on his France team-mate, Aurelien Tchouameni, who is a transfer target for a host of big European clubs.

The Monaco youngster starred in the France midfield next to Pogba as they beat Spain 2-1 in the UEFA Nations League final on Sunday.

He broke into the Bordeaux first-team in 2018 before joining the south coast club, where he has emerged as one of the finest talents in France.

Tchouameni was linked with a move to both Chelsea and Man Utd during the summer transfer window, with Juventus now reportedly keeping tabs on the player as well.

And Pogba – who shares a dressing room with the 21-year-old for Les Bleus – has waxed lyrical about the “extraordinary” midfielder.

He told RTL [via the Express]: “Very, very good. He’s not a boy, he’s a man.

“It’s a pleasure to play next to him. He brings a lot of energy. A lot of energy, extraordinary technical and physical quality.

“We wish him to play a lot more games and that I am always by his side.”

Transfer phenomenon Fabrizio Romano claimed that United had not made an effort to sign Tchouameni, but has recently confirmed he is on their shortlist.

He said on the Here We Go Podcast: “Manchester United were not trying to sign Tchouameni last summer.

“So they were not negotiating with Monaco for Tchouameni.

“There were many rumours but he was on the list of Man United, he’s a player they are scouting with many, many players but they were not negotiating for him.

“Chelsea and Juventus have this player in their list.

“Chelsea have this player in their list so keep an eye on Chelsea and Juventus and we’ll see what Real Madrid will do in this position.”

Pogba himself has an uncertain future. His contract at Old Trafford expires in less than 12 months and it has been reported that Madrid will reignite their interest in the midfielder to try and lure Kylian Mbappe to the Bernabeu.

This is according to Spanish publication AS, who say Real Madrid have ‘reactivated’ their interest in Pogba and see him as a ‘fantastic market opportunity’ this summer.

Karim Benzema – who has ‘taken on more and more weight in the white wardrobe and would cause his adaptation to be immediate’ – could also help persuade Mbappe and Pogba to play in Madrid.
