Arsenal winger Marquinhos looks set to spend the upcoming season out on loan following a loan spell with Norwich City last season.

The Gunners have high hopes for the Brazilian winger after snapping him up from Sao Paulo in the summer of 2022.

He spent the first half of last season with the first team and scored one goal across six first team appearances.

Marquinhos then spent the second half of the season on loan with Norwich in the Championship where he was afforded some more first team opportunities.

The 20-year-old scored one goal for the Championship club in 11 appearances and also chipped in with an assist.

According to The Express, the Brazilian winger is now set to spend the upcoming season with Olympiacos on loan.

The report states that the move is now on the ‘verge of completion’ as the 20-year-old continues to adapt to European football.

“He’s a player that is very popular, with no English, just with his smile and attitude has won the respect and admiration of everybody here,” Mikel Arteta told reporters after Marquinhos scored his first goal for Arsenal against FC Zurich.

“It was a big step for him as he hasn’t played enough minutes with us but we were willing to give him the opportunity, I think he deserved it.

“He took it really well and again, it’s another player that needs to keep developing, in order to do that we have to give them minutes and opportunities.”

Norwich boss David Wagner enjoyed working with the winger last season and provided an insight into the type of person Marquinhos is.

“He’s a very calm guy, and a very smart guy as well,” Wagner told Pink Un. “He understands football and he understood as well what happened so far.

“We should not forget he is very young, just 19, and when he came here he got injured and it took a little bit of time.”

A loan move to a side like Olympiacos should be good for a player like Marquinhos as he continues to hone his craft.
