Premier League quartet miss out on potential Plea bargain
Premier League target Alassane Plea has left Nice to join Borussia Monchengladbach.
Plea was on a number of transfer shortlists this summer after scoring 21 goals and assisting seven in 49 games for Nice last season.
The 25-year-old’s versatility was of particular appeal, as he is able to play as a forward either centrally or on the left.
The France youth international was wanted by Newcastle, as well as Fulham, Tottenham and West Ham.
But Gladbach won the race, with director of sport Max Eberl revelling in the signing.
“We’re extremely glad that this transfer has gone through and we were able to sign Alassane despite a lot of competition from various other well-known clubs,” Eberl said.
“Thankfully for us, he wanted to come to Borussia at all costs.
“He’s a versatile, quick and clever forward who has put his talent on full display in Ligue 1 and the Europa League.”
