Manchester United will already have one eye on the summer transfer window as Erik ten Hag plans to further strengthen his squad.

Ten Hag was backed with over £200million in his first summer transfer window and United are expected to strengthen several positions in the following months.

Singing a new striker looks to be the priority for the club however, they are also considering a new goalkeeper to rival David De Gea.

The Spanish goalkeeper is out of contract at the end of the season and Man United are considering replacing him.

Louis Saha has had his say on the situation and has picked out a Premier League star who would be a worthy replacement for De Gea.

“It’s a tough one. What I’ve seen of Manchester United’s progression this year and what their style of play has shown me is that the goalkeeper playing out from the back is very important to Erik ten Hag,” Saha told Betfred.

“Erik will want a goalkeeper that’s a very good goalkeeper firstly, but he’d want them to be equally as good with their feet too.

“I’ve always been very impressed with Robert Sanchez from Brighton. I don’t know if he’d be happy about being a number two at Manchester United, but he’s a player that could adapt to Erik ten Hag’s style.

“There’s a lot of great goalkeepers out there and many of the best are very good with the ball at their feet.”

Man United have previously been interested in Sanchez, but they were warned that he would cost a lot of money.

Sanchez has kept six clean sheets in 23 appearances for Brighton this season and boasts a 66.2% save ratio.

The Spanish goalkeeper had started the season as Brighton’s number one but has recently lost his starting spot to Jason Steele.

Saha has been impressed with the improvements at Old Trafford this season and he even thinks that they could challenge for the title next year.

“Hopefully they can guarantee their place in next season’s Champions League soon.

“Winning the Champions League will be pretty hard, but they can challenge for the Premier League title next season.

“They’ve shown quality going forward and they’ve shown that they’re capable of keeping plenty of clean sheets.”

Ten Hag’s side currently hold a seven-point lead over Tottenham and also have a game in hand on the London club.

With six games left to play in the league, United are in pole position to finish in the top four this year.
